What is

Hootsuite

?

Social media management tool Hootsuite offers a range of features to help you drive growth across different platforms, but which ones do you need — and how much do they cost? With our Hootsuite pricing guide, you’ll find a full breakdown of pricing tiers and how the platform compares to competitor solutions. And once you’re ready to procure, see how Vertice can optimize SaaS operations and save you money.

What Hootsuite can do for you

Hootsuite offers users a comprehensive platform for social media management and marketing. With functionality spread across many different areas, it’s an all-in-one solution that can handle every step in the social media journey — from initial content creation to optimization and analytics.

By implementing Hootsuite, professionals and businesses can streamline the process of managing social media accounts across various channels like Instagram, Facebook and X by unifying them under a single platform.

Here’s a look at Hootsuite’s capabilities:

Publishing

Content is a central pillar of social media marketing, and Hootsuite makes it quicker to create thanks to AI tools for idea generation, captioning posts, and suggesting hashtags. It also integrates with graphic design software like Canva.

Come publishing time, it’s easier to keep track of your posting schedule across platforms through the content calendar, which makes intelligent suggestions about what time to post for the best engagement while identifying gaps in your campaigns.

Engagement

With Hootsuite, it’s easier to interact with your audience through a centralized messaging inbox containing automated responses, while SaaS integrations with CRMs like Salesforce and HubSpot help you boost lead capture and sales.

Through social listening tools, you’ll get a clear picture of what people think about your brand and industry. As a result, you can create more engaging content that meets your audience’s desires, and better protect your reputation by jumping into the conversation to leave a positive impression.

Analytics

Hootsuite includes powerful reporting tools to help optimize campaigns based on performance data. You can view paid and organic metrics from all your social networks under a single dashboard, providing deeper insight into what’s working best and helping you replicate it.

Advertising

Get more value out of your ad spend across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other channels using features like automatic post boosting, advanced targeting, and side-by-side reporting for paid and organic posts. When you manage your ads through Hootsuite, the platform intelligently adjusts your per-post budget based on performance to help you reach a wider audience.

Hootsuite pricing structures and tiers

Hootsuite pricing is organized into three tiers — Professional, Team, and Enterprise. The one that’s right for your business depends on the features you need and how many seats you require. Here’s a detailed breakdown of each plan.

Hootsuite pricing – Professional

Cost: $99 per month (billed annually)

Professional is the cheapest tier of Hootsuite pricing and allows a single user to manage up to ten social accounts across Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and TikTok.

It includes most publishing features, like unlimited posting, the content calendar, bulk scheduling, recommended publishing times, and link shortening and tracking. Creation tools include hashtag suggestions, a free stock image library, and native Canva integration for designing your content.

The majority of reporting and analytics tools are included, albeit with a two-competitor maximum for benchmarking. Audience engagement is more limited, with Professional users only getting access to the centralized inbox and contact management features. For ad management, there’s a $500 limit on post boosting.

Hootsuite pricing – Team

Cost: $249 per month (billed annually)

Hootsuite Team comes with three seats and lets you connect up to 20 social accounts. It builds upon the publishing tools in the Professional tier with support for a single vanity URL, automated link tracking, the ability to suspend scheduled posts, and a Hootbio custom ‘link in bio’ page.

Access to different social accounts can be set on a per-user basis, with inbound messages assigned to specific team members based on channel. The post boosting limit is also increased to $2,000.

Hootsuite pricing – Enterprise

Cost: contact sales

If you’ve got a larger team or more complex social media management needs, you may need to opt for an Enterprise plan. Pricing is custom, starting at five users and 50 social accounts.

Several Hootsuite features are exclusive to this tier. Users can store approved post templates and images within an asset and content library for easy reuse. There are ad campaign management tools, a full suite of customer engagement and messaging features including an optional AI chatbot add-on, and more advanced reporting. Security features are bolstered too, with support for single sign-on (SSO), role-based access control (RBAC), and add-on integration with Proofpoint.

Post boosting and vanity URLs are unlimited and there’s also integration with Bit.ly for link shortening and management. Access to premium app integrations is included in the price.

Additional Hootsuite costs to consider

For the most part, Hootsuite pricing is transparent and there are no hidden costs. With Enterprise plans, there are a range of add-ons such as ROI reporting, social listening, and a white-glove training service, but these are factored into the custom price of your plan. However, there are a couple of things you should consider on top of your base subscription.

Premium integrations

For Hootsuite Professional and Team customers, integrations with premium apps carry an additional charge. Many popular integrations like Mailchimp, Box, and WordPress are free, but others such as Adview and Panoramiq require an additional fee, usually around $5–$10 per month.

Vanity URLs

While Hootsuite offers link shortening through its Ow.ly feature, you can use custom vanity URLs if you have a Team or Enterprise plan. While this isn’t directly an additional cost of Hootsuite, you’ll need to purchase a vanity URL from an accredited domain name registrar to do so.

Other vendors offering social media management

Hootsuite isn’t the only choice for managing your social media accounts. It’s always worth considering alternatives during the procurement process to see if another solution may better suit your needs or budget.

Hootsuite pricing vs Sprout Social

Sprout Social offers similar publishing tools to Hootsuite, but there’s a heavier focus on reporting with this solution — especially if you opt for one of the more expensive plans. It also touts a range of workflow automation features which may particularly benefit larger organizations with more complex requirements.

In terms of Sprout Social pricing, the solution is significantly more expensive than Hootsuite. It starts at $199 per seat for five social accounts, and some features like social listening, employee advocacy, and premium analytics require an add-on fee, even for the higher subscription tiers.

Hootsuite pricing vs Agorapulse

Agorapulse offers a user-friendly interface for unified social media management at an affordable price. As such, it’s particularly well-suited to small and medium businesses due to the lower barrier to entry.

Agorapulse pricing starts at $49 per user per month (billed annually) for ten social profiles — half the price of Hootsuite. Another benefit is the fact you can add additional profiles to any plan for an additional $10/month fee. Agorapulse also offers a free tier, limited to one user, three social profiles, and ten concurrent scheduled posts.

Hootsuite pricing vs Planable

Collaboration is a key strength of Planable, with approvals available in all paid tiers — compared to just the Enterprise plan of Hootsuite. Planable’s interface is highly intuitive, although the solution is more limited in terms of social listening and analytics.

Planable pricing is both accessible and flexible thanks to the ‘workspace’ structure, with each workspace corresponding to a single brand, company, or client. Workspaces have different page limits depending on the plan you opt for. The cheapest, Basic, is $11 a month for a single user and workspace, with four pages per workspace. There’s also a free plan with a 50-post limit.

Hootsuite pricing – the Vertice verdict

Hootsuite offers a robust collection of tools to streamline your social media marketing workflows, with functionality addressing every aspect of the process from content creation to paid reach management. Although Hootsuite is more expensive than some alternative vendors, all of its subscription tiers include the majority of features, so whether it’s right for you very much depends on your needs.
