What is

Zapier

?

What Zapier can do for you

Zapier is an integration platform allowing companies to create and automate bespoke workflows. By connecting applications and services within an IT system, Zapier subscribers can establish their own coded workflows without any technical assistance. The ability to construct your own automated workflows — whether it’s the process of posting on socials, onboarding new partners and employees, or customer data analysis — enables organizations to focus on more important tasks. The platform can build custom workflows across over 6,000 apps.Building workflows is the Zapier platform’s defining feature, but three other key products run alongside this capability. Here are those four products laid out in greater detail:

1. Zaps

A Zap is what Zapier calls a constructed automated workflow. These are established with predetermined triggers that cause a chain reaction within specific business processes. For example, someone visits your website and fills in an enquiry form. This action constitutes a trigger, perhaps labelled “new lead”. As you’re building this Zap, you’ll then establish the resulting action from the trigger, such as a direct message to the sales team. Every time this trigger is set, the action will be automated. Zaps can be developed with custom logic, conditions, and filters for greater accuracies in your workflow and more specific results, building automated systems across the entire company. Users can also deploy templates set up by other Zapier subscribers to help them get started.

2. Interfaces

  • Build custom forms, webpages, and apps designed for your business that match brand guidelines and tone of voice.
  • Drag-and-drop tools make it easy to build new interfaces in minutes.
  • Develop lead management solutions, create professional customer portals and even launch a new app.
  • End-to-end visibility of the entire workflow, constructing interfaces at speed.
  • Plug directly into all automated platforms and processes as you build, easily migrating existing data.

3. Tables

  • Store, edit and move information in a database purpose-built for automation, without ever breaking your workflows.
  • Start building your tables in just a few clicks.
  • Connect to all your applications to create one centralized data management tool.

4. Chatbots

  • Create AI chatbots that answer questions, resolve issues and nurture new leads.
  • Combine company data with the power of OpenAI models to generate on-brand communications while controlling chatbot functions.
  • Review conversation history to improve processes and performance.
  • Automatically answer FAQs to keep support costs low.
  • Collect, qualify and convert new leads — then automate personalized follow-ups.

Zapier pricing structures and tiers

Zapier pricing is completely transparent online, with subscription tiers set in relation to each individual product. Customers can therefore decide precisely which products they require and calculate the overall cost. We’ve broken down subscription costs for each Zapier product below:

Zapier pricing — Zaps

Zaps comes in four tier subscriptions:

  • Professional — Good for individuals with unlimited apps, multi-step Zaps and email support: $19.99 per month.
  • Team — Good for teams with unlimited users, single sign-on (SSO) add-on and premier account support: $69.99 per month.
  • Enterprise — Contact for quote.

Zapier pricing — Interfaces

  • Premium — Project limit of five interfaces, 10MB uploads and personalized branding: $20 per month.
  • Advanced — Project limit of 20 interfaces and 25MB uploads: $100 per month.

  • Advanced — 50 tables, 200 fields per table and 500,000 records per table: $100 per month.

Zapier pricing — Chatbots

  • Premium — Five chatbots and 14-day conversation history: $20 per month.
  • Advanced — 20 chatbots and 30-day conversation history: $100 per month.

Additional Zapier costs to consider

Every Zapier subscription comes with basic access to the other three Zapier products, but customers can add any Premium plan from other products for an additional $20 per month.

Other vendors offering workflow automation solutions

Zapier is a leading solution in workflow automation, but it’s not the only platform in this area. At Vertice, we’re only interested in one thing: helping our customers secure the right products for them, at the right price. In this vein, here are three alternative options to Zapier that might better suit your organization and procurement operations.

Zapier pricing vs Make

Formerly known as Integromat, Make is a platform used to connect apps, design workflows, and build business processes. Like Zapier, Make pricing is readily available online, with subscriptions available in four tiers:

  • Free — For individuals trying automation with Make’s drag-and-drop interface.
  • Core — For individuals automating simple workflows: $10.59 per month, or $9 per month when billed annually.
  • Pro — For individuals requiring sophisticated automating tools: $18.82 per month, or $16 per month when billed annually.
  • Teams — For departments using automation for multiple users: $34.12 per month or $29 per month when billed annually.

Make doesn’t currently offer a free trial.

Zapier pricing vs Microsoft Power Automate

Formerly known as Microsoft Flow, Microsoft Power Automate is a cloud automation platform optimizing workflows and business processes. Initially designed to integrate just with Microsoft apps, the platform now connects with thousands of programs. Microsoft Power Automate pricing has two tiers:

  • Premium — $15.63 per person, per month (before VAT).
  • Process — License a bot to be used by unattended desktop or cloud flows and accessed by unlimited users: $156.64 per bot, per month (before VAT).

New customers can access a 30-day free trial.

Zapier pricing vs IFTTT

Standing for If This Then That, IFTTT allows users to customize and control integrations with filter codes, queries and multiple actions. Designed for both commercial and private use, IFTTT is favored by smaller businesses and smart home owners. IFTTT pricing is available in three tiers:

  • Free — For simple automation.
  • Pro — For smart home integrations and increased productivity: $2.92 per month.
  • Pro+ — For limitless automations for small businesses: $12.50 per month.

IFTTT offers a seven-day free trial for new customers.

Zapier pricing — the Vertice verdict

With workflow automation, interface construction, data management, chatbot facilities, and over 6,000 app integrations, the Zapier platform is undoubtedly a leader in this field. It’s pleasing to see pricing so transparent — as is the case with all the platforms discussed here — particularly when it’s broken down specifically by product. Users can benefit from basic features of all Zapier products without spending an extra buck.

Make and IFTTT may well be preferred by smaller organizations. This is particularly true for IFTTT, which lists small businesses and smart home owners as its primary target markets. And for organizations looking for completely automated workflow processes, Microsoft Power Automate offers licensed bots at more premium prices. Whichever solution is right for you, know that Vertice’s customer purchasing teams can aid the procurement negotiation process. Our platform also enables businesses to optimize SaaS visibility across their entire portfolio, cutting costs, saving time and boosting efficiencies.
